The Rich Merchant with Four Wives – Part 1
There was once a Rich Merchant who had four wives. One day he decided to go on a long journey so he asked his first wife, “Do you want to go with me?” His first wife was very beautiful and she was always with the Rich Merchant no matter where he went and what he did, but this time she did not want to go on such a long journey and she said to him, “Sorry, I don’t want to go with you this time.” The Rich Merchant was very disappointed, so he asked his second wife.
His second wife was the most beautiful but she had been taken and forced to marry him, and she really did not want to be with him. However, she could do many things for him, and she helped to make him richer, develop his career and get whatever he wanted. When he asked her to go with him she answered, “I don’t want to go with you, you forced me to be with you and become your wife, so I’m not going with you.” The Rich Merchant was disappointed again and so he asked his third wife.
His third wife was very nice and very pretty. She always took care of him, looked after his household, his children and took care of all the meals for the family. She did everything to make him feel good at home, but even she said, “I am not going with you on such a long journey.” Yet again the Rich Merchant was disappointed and so he asked his fourth wife and his fourth wife said, “I will go with you.”
