Ruan Qigong 軟氣功

photo Teaching Balancing GongWhen we study Qigong we should know there are two kinds. One is soft, which we call Ruan軟, so Ruan Qigong軟氣功. This is what we normally practise in class, Balancing Gong 平衡功, Healthy Living Gong 健康生活功 and Wild Goose Qigong 大雁氣功 etc.

The character for Ruan軟 is made up of two parts. The left side is Ju車,this means Cart which has wheels, it is strong, just a car it can runs over people to injury them. The right  side is Qian欠 which means it owes something,so if a strong cart owes something, it means missing something that is soft. all together Ruan means soft. However it does not mean it is completely soft and so it is soft on the inside and hard on the outside, this is true softness. Then when we practise our Qigong we need to be, soft, gentle and slow, but on the inside, the bones and posture the Qi is very strong.
