Our style of Qigong is called Kunlun Dayan Qigong崑崙派大雁氣功. There are many different styles of Qigong. A good Qigong style has a long history, a direct lineage and skills that benefit the people. The people who study it should become healthier and the teachers should be very healthy. This is because Qigong is for developing your health. Chinese Qigong has over 5,000 years of history and so it is as old as Chinese medicine.
Chinese culture is based on nature, observing nature and following nature’s way. We call nature’s way Dao道and this knowledge has been developed in all aspects of Chinese life, like cooking, medicine, astronomy, architecture, social structure, etc. Throughout Chinese history the people in different areas of China have developed their way of Qigong, based in their observations of nature and using movement and meditation to work the Qi. So these have become the many different style of Qigong we have today.
Dayan Qigong belongs to the Kunlun System. Kunlun is a huge range of mountains to the West of China, just above Tibet. In this are there are many wild geese that fly here and migrate. In particular this is one of the homes of the unique Bar Head Goose. Our Qigong ancestors watched the movements of the wild geese and combined them with the knowledge of Chinese Medicine and the principles of how Qi works in the channels and acupuncture points of the body to make us healthy.
