Slapping Up and Down

One method in Qìgōng 氣功 is slapping. In Dàyàn Qìgōng 大雁氣功 – Wild Goose Qìgōng we have the form Healthy Slapping Gong 拍打健身功. Some people like to know if we should slap from the bottom up, or down from the top to the bottom. We can actually slap in either direction. In Healthy Slapping Gong we do this a lot, and this is because it follows the flow of the Jīng Luò 經絡 – Channels. We start from the top going down and then from down, back up to the top. This slapping follows the flow of the Jīng Luò. The Qì 氣 has it usual way to flow, but when we are healthy, the Qì can flow backwards, or in other directions, so it is not exact. We fix the way we slap when we are slapping the Jīng Luò, but when we are not well, we can slap all over the body and all around the problem area, usually this is the organs. The most common problems are the stomach and the liver. Other parts of the body are the shoulders, legs and back which we can slap and also massage as this will help, we can even transmit Qì to these areas and this will help us to recover quickly.
