Principle of Meditation Part 4

At the end, all we need to do for meditation is to find emptiness. However, we will never be able to completely empty our minds, there is always something there. The first thing is awareness of the body, awareness of the Qì 氣 flowing along the Jīng luò 經絡 – Channels and awareness of the Acupuncture points. There is the sensation of the internal organs, the blockages, stiffness even pain and discomfort. Any physical feelings will come first. Even if we try to empty the mind, we will feel the body. The emptiness allows us to feel the body more deeply, and this is actually what emptiness is for.  If by emptying the mind we do not feel the body, then what is meditation for? Even when we are asleep and we forget our bodies, we still have some feelings of the body and this is why we move around so much when we are sleeping. Of course, we can sleep very deeply where we do not feel the body, but his does not last and our awareness comes back up and we start to feel the body again. However, meditation is different. We are still awake and we can feel the body, in fact even more so. So, finding emptiness allows us to let go of everything and let the body tell us what is happening.
