Sì Shén Cōng 四神聰  – Part 1

We practice Qìgōng 氣功 to make us healthy. Through practicing Qìgōng we collect and cultivate Qì 氣 from nature and the environment around us. We all know that practising outside, in nature and in a good environment is better than practising in bad surrounding and indoors.

When we practise, we need to work on our Dāntián 丹田. The Dāntián is the most important part of the body as this is where our Qì is stored, so when we practise our Qì which will build up and we will be more healthy. We actually have three Dāntiáns. First we have the Lower Dāntián (Xià Dāntián 下丹田), which is found at the Qì Hǎi point 氣海穴, then we have the Middle Dāntián (Zhōng Dāntián 中丹田), which is at the Shānzhōng point 膻中穴 and then there is the Upper Dāntián (Shàng Dāntián 上丹田 ) and this is at the Sky Eye and is where the Yìn Táng point 印堂穴 is located. These three Dāntiáns are like the three stories of a house. The Lower Dāntián is ground floor, the Middle Dāntián is the first floor and the Upper Dāntián is the second floor. Without building the ground floor you cannot build the second floor and without making the first floor you cannot have the second floor. Of course, a three story house is better than a bungalow, but we need to build our three story house. If we can do this then we are really healthy, so we develop the Lower and Middle Dāntiáns so we can open the Sky Eye and bring Qì to the Upper Dāntián.
